Time flew by and all of a sudden we have 3 months left in the year.

You Can’t Stop Time

Just like that, the end of the year is approaching. As I get ready for the fourth quarter in my real job, often times referred to as Q4, I realized that this could be the most important three months to my little side adventure. In fact my real life managers has stated that:

This is the most important quarter of your life.

The fourth quarter is often the most important quarter for retails sales, and can account for up to 75% of a business’s annual sales. This is especially true during challenging years, which I think this one qualifies for, when the fourth quarter can help companies recover from losses incurred earlier in the year.

Luckily I’m new, so no big losses yet.

Launching

The past week I’ve been busy creating product ideas, and generating mockups. I’ve been sharing these ideas with friends and family so that I have some feedback before showing the world my ideas. Remember, I’m trying to implement the philosophy of “Just Launch” and not overthink every detail. Hopefully the market will tell me what I need to change or add or remove.

In another post, I mentioned that I’m moving forward with POD, but I’ve added a twist to it. Thus I’ve created my own site as well as uploaded items to Etsy. The links are below in case you are interested.

With that said, Friday October 4th is Launch Day!

To say I’m excited is an understatement. I truly believe the items are things people will by, but more importantly they will enjoy.

Minimalism

Over the course of the last few years, I’ve found myself enjoying simple things in life. A morning coffee, ONE cocktail with family and friends, and of course the view of my backyard at dusk. All simple things, but all things filled with beauty.

I’ve also started to realize that I don’t need many material things to make myself happy. I genuinely enjoy the company of my girlfriend and our lives on the “ranchette”. So I’ve really started to pair down the things I own, which allows me to focus on what I want to get done and what needs to get accomplished.

Due to this life change, I was able to build and deploy a fully functioning app that I can maintain easily. Like I said several times before, it’s about getting to launch, not being perfect. I also have a technical background, so building a simple content driven app wasn’t that much of a stretch for me.

More Products

Over the next several days, my goal is to create more products for the site. I’d like to have at least a dozen products ready to go and available for purchase.

I’m starting by listing the products on the site, then I’ll move them to Etsy and a few other places. The advantage of the site, is that listing products doesn’t cost me anything. While listing products on Etsy cost me at a minium $.50. Kinda a bummer, but I can’t deny the number of eyeballs that site gets.

More Updates

Check back as I get my P&L updated to show the real cost of doing business and where I stand with everything. Just as a preview I can share that of this writing there hasn’t been a stitch of revenue. Just in case you are wondering. Let’s change that quickly.
